Studying the Nervous System

The Narwhals have begun studying the nervous system and the first step was to look at neurons. First we watched a video about neurons and  then made models of them using beads.

Next we read about the chemical reaction that takes place between neurotransmitters and hypothesized what chemicals in the body might be the best conductors of an electrical charge. We learned how to make an electrical circuit then tried water, salt water and sugar water to see which would be the best conductor. Ask a Narwhal about the results.

Big Week for the Narwhals!

First our Korean exchange students, Peter and Warren arrived and have been a fun addition to the class. First impressions are their English is very good, they are great in math and have impressive soccer skills!

We also began the first of four weeks of swim lessons. The Narwhals are excited to be in their natural watery environment!
